Wilson Botanical Garden

Wilson Botanical Garden is recognized internationally as a very fine collection of subtropical and tropical plants of the entire world. Among others, araceas, bromeliads, ferns, gingers, heliconias, marantas and palms are represented in the garden (10 hectares).  More than 1000 kinds of some 200 families form this splendid collection, which is part of the Biological Station Las Cruces.

The garden, the station and the adjacent forest reserve (266 hectares) contain an immense wealth in native flora (some 2.000 species) and fauna.  There are 320 species of birds, more than 800 species of butterflies, many mammals - among them 38 species of bats - as well as an impressive number of reptiles and amphibians.
